Leaders are all around us...

Women in Ag launched the leadership challenge last month not knowing how many nominations we would receive, if any at all.  The goal of the leadership challenge was to recognize a women in the agriculture industry who goes above and beyond as a leader in her community and the agriculture industry.  We were astounded with some of the wonderful nominations!  We announced on our Facebook page last week that Adrienne Ivey of Ituna, SK is the winner!

Sheila Keisig nominated her friend Adrienne because of all she gives to her community of Ituna, SK,  a small town of 700 people. Last month, Ituna was in the running to become Kraft Hockeyville, a campaign that Adrienne was a significant driver in, posting daily and sometimes hourly on social media to generate votes.  Although Ituna did not win the grand prize, they were the runner up and will receive $100,000 in arena upgrades.  "Adrienne never looks for recognition, she just gets things done," notes Sheila.  "I've always admired her determination and confidence."

Sheila's nomination:

"Adrienne is a huge driving force within our community. She has taken on many leadership roles, whether it being the Chairperson at the local School Community Council, the General Leader of the 4H Club, or being the motivator in our quest for Ituna as Hockeyville. Adrienne demonstrates a confident woman who isn't scared of a challenge. Whether she is speaking passionately about the rural way of life on a radio talk show, or over a cup of coffee with neighbors and friends, she is a true "agvocate".

Adrienne and Aaron Ivey own a feedlot, along with Aaron's parents. Adrienne has been able to balance farm, business, family and community perfectly! Their 2 children are highly involved on the farm. Between running for hockey and curling in the winter with the kids, and horse shows in the summer, Adrienne always makes time for her community, and family and friends. She can always be counted on to volunteer to help out with most anything. I feel that this woman needs to be recognized for all her hard work she does, always with an amazing smile on her face!"
