Saskatchewan Agriculture Awareness Month- Easy 2-Hour Buns

Part #3: Easy 2-Hour Buns

You can’t make hearty soups without having fresh bread or buns accompany your steaming bowl of soup! Now the bread recipes floating around are endless. Many wise people have perfected their recipes for years. I can’t seem to perfect my family recipe so I had to experiment with a new one. Recently I discovered an easy 2-hour bun recipe from a well known Saskatchewan fashion and lifestyle blogger - Kiteen’s Closet. She is also a farmer in SE Sask and you can check out her blog here (https://kiteenscloset.com/) as well as on instagram!

In Kiteen’s recipe you will see wheat and honey used. Might be no surprise as Saskatchewan wheat production is often referred to as the “bread basket of the world” but honey is also produced here in Sask.

Wheat

There are two types of wheat grown in Saskatchewan. Common wheat is what we see in breads and flour products. Durum wheat is used in manufacturing pasta products. FUN FACT: The first recorded attempt at growing wheat took place in Carrot River SK. Shout out to all the Carrot River WIA members.

Honey

Saskatchewan Beekeepers Development Commission has over 100 members from across our province. The organization prides itself on working with farmers to continue to produce the largest per capita honey production in Canada. To put into perspective how many honey bees each farm would have - a single honeybee will only produce 1/12 teaspoon of honey in their life. However a single honeybee will visit 50 to 100 flowers on a single trip out of the hive.

Click the link below, you won’t be disappointed with this easy peasy fresh bun recipe! Also, give her a follow and subscribe to the blog, it will revolutionize your closet! ;)
