Extra Mile Award

Recognizing women who go the Extra Mile

Saskatchewan Women In Ag, in collaboration with The Future Leader and Brightrack Consulting, are pleased to present the Extra Mile Award.

This award recognizes a woman involved in agriculture in Saskatchewan who has gone “the extra mile” in one or more of the following areas:

  • Leadership and Mentorship

  • Advocacy and Engagement

  • Events and Initiatives

Nominees’ efforts will have had a positive impact on their communities and have played a measurable role in inspiring support for the Saskatchewan agriculture industry. The intention of this award is to recognize women who ‘go the extra mile’ through efforts beyond their paid role. While nominees may be recognizable outside their community, they may also be a quiet, unassuming hero best known locally. Nominees do not need to be a member of Women In Ag.

Award Value

Annual award of $1,000 will be donated to a registered charity or community initiative of the winners choosing.

Award and Selection Criteria

  • Nominations are open to all women who are involved in the Saskatchewan agriculture industry.

  • Nominations must be submitted online by September 30th each year.

  • Nominees must be residents of Saskatchewan.

  • Nominators may nominate more than one individual

  • Nominations will be accepted from anyone, including the Women In Ag board.

  • Current Women In Ag board members are not eligible to be nominated.

  • A panel of three will select the winner, including a Brightrack Consulting staff member, a Women In Ag board member, and one at-large judge.

The award recipient will be selected based on the value and impact of their effort by comparison to other nominations received in that year. Selection criteria will be drawn in collaboration between Women In Ag and Brightrack Consulting.

The recipient is a woman who has made a positive impact in the lives of one or more community members through activities that may include:

  • Demonstrating leadership or mentorship to other women in agriculture

  • Championed the promotion and/or understanding of Saskatchewan agriculture and food to the non-farming community.

  • Has organized or managed events or initiatives in her community that promoted agriculture and brought farmers and consumers and/or youth together.

The events can be small or large in scale, annual or stand-alone in nature, while initiatives and mentorship can be singular or ongoing.
