Mentorship

Learn from women who have walked the path.

The Women In Ag Mentorship Program is a flexible, member-based way to connect women in agriculture with other women who have experience, knowledge or perspective they can draw on.

The Mentorship Program is not a formal coaching arrangement. Instead, it creates opportunities for connections that might not otherwise happen. It gives members the chance to seek advice for both personal and professional growth and to connect with women who have navigated similar experiences.

This is intentionally not a traditional, highly structured mentorship program. A Women in Ag mentorship could be one conversation, a couple of questions, a month of support or a longer-term relationship. The mentor and mentee decide what makes sense for them.

How it works

The Mentorship Program is available exclusively to Women In Ag members. A mentee completes the mentorship intake form explaining what she is looking for. Women In Ag reviews that information and connects her with a mentor whose experience fits her needs. A member can also request a specific mentor.   Once the introduction is made, the mentee drives the relationship, and the mentor supports her based on their availability and what the two agree to. What can participants get support with?   Current mentees have requested support with:

  • Financial literacy

  • Technical skills

  • Work-life balance

  • Conflict resolution

  • Entrepreneurship

  • Communications

  • Agriculture advocacy

  • Board governance

But it can be broader or simpler than any of these topics. A mentee may simply need to ask a question she is uncomfortable asking elsewhere, understand how another woman navigated a career or life transition, make an industry connection, explore a new opportunity, or simply bounce an idea off someone who’s been in the same situation.

The opportunities are endless!

Become a Mentor

This is for women who have

  • Navigated a professional life while starting families or returning to work.

  • Balanced raising kids with building a career

  • Juggled personal responsibilities and employment.

Women who have already gone through these transitions can provide peer guidance based on lived experience. Strengthening women’s participation strengthens agriculture across the board.
